ArtificialRadiations |
TECNORAD, located in Verona, has been working for over thirty years in the field of protection and shielding from artificial ionising radiations by providing the Dosimetry Service to personnel exposed to x/gamma and beta radiations
|
NaturalRadiations |
In 1999, we equipped an efficient and modern Laboratory to measure Radon concentrations in the air with latest generation passive track detectors and electrets.
TECNORAD also avails itself of integrated active instruments capable of continuously measuring Radon concentrations and related progeny, determining time and space changes with extreme precision in order to identify the source points of the gas.

Since 2007 TECNORAD has been producing TALETE, an integrated system to monitor the exposure to magnetic fields of personnel in Magnetic Resonance. |
The high level of reliability set by TECNORAD in providing its services is documented by the continuity in obtaining technical certifications over the years.

| Quality System |
- In 1998 TECNORAD implemented the “TDR” “TECNORAD Detector Reading System”, mainstay in guaranteeing measuring quality: the ISO 9002 certified procedures allow for an accurate evaluation and application of the normative reference standards and continuity in the quality of the services provided.
- In 1999 the Quality System was certified according to the latest ISO 9001:2000
- In 2008 the Quality System ISO 9001:2000 was granted an extension to include the magnetic field monitoring system in Magnetic Resonance.
The Quality System implemented by TECNORAD guarantees continuous cycle and real time verification of the following characteristics:
- Correct measurements in relation to the confidence levels specified in the ISO technical specifications for dosimetry
- Suitability of calibration and instrument management procedures
- Compliance with scheduled process times
- Compliance of the Quality System with the requirements specified in the ISO 9000 norms
This has led to the achievement of an objective framework of the whole service reliability as it guarantees quality in systematic, reproducible and repeatable measurements over time.
Inspections carried out every year by the Accredited Board certify that “TECNORAD Detector Reading System” is applied on each single production cycle and therefore the confidence level systematically complies with the parameters set forth in the ISO Technical specifications for dosimetry.

System
|
The TECNORAD corporate Quality System has been certified as compliant with the norms stated in the Corporate Quality System ISO 9001:2000 “Quality Management Systems – Fundamentals and terminology” by a Certification Board accredited by SINCERT: IMQ (Certificate n°9175.TRAD) and CISQ (Certificate No. IT-8640)
TECNORAD is certified for the following products:
- Dosimetry service for natural and artificial ionising radiations,
- Monitoring service for magnetic fields in magnetic resonance.

Production Cycle and System
Calibration |
System calibration
The Quality System implemented and applied by TECNORAD is founded on the principles of Total Quality in order to guarantee not only a “ product compliant with the specified requirements” but also to guarantee a “quality product”.
In-house tests
Sets of dosimeters radiated with doses, which are unknown to the Laboratory operators, are entered into each reading cycle and analysis takes place in exactly the same manner as other dosimeters coming from Customers.
Instrument management
TECNORAD follows the procedures assuring that trial, measuring and testing equipment, including the testing software, is kept under control.
Process Control
The Process called “System Calibration” is planned in such way that, by means of the final stage called “Process Control”; all the procedures involved are implemented in controlled conditions and undergo consistency verification.
By means of suitable and specific instruments, which do not disregard personnel qualifications, TECNORAD documents, ensures and bears evidence of the fact that, for each single reading cycle ( cycle meant as starting from the purchase of the detector to submission of the dosimetric reply to the Customer), the confidence level specified for conformity of the dosimetric reply systematically complies with the parameters envisaged by the ISO technical specification norms for dosimetry.
In order to attest the quality of the Dosimetric Replies as well as continuity in the quality with which they are submitted, TECNORAD has adopted procedures which are an integral part of the Quality System ISO 9001:2000 subject to yearly inspections. The whole production cycle, starting from inspection on in-coming detector consignments, has been implemented in order to assure a continuous and real time verification cycle of the following characteristics:
- Measurement correctness
- Appropriateness of calibration procedures and instrument management
- Compliance with scheduled process times of the whole organisation
- Statistical process control
- Quality System compliance with envisaged requirements.
This leads to an objective framework of the entire service reliability as the quality of the measurements is ensured over time and is thus systematic, reproducible and repeatable.

Film Dosimeter |
KODAK KMT2 Film Detector
This detector is fitted with a fast emulsion on one side and a slow emulsion on the other. In this way, one single film will record exposures within a range of 5-6 dimensions.
Should exposure be so high as to completely blacken the fast emulsion, it will be sufficient to remove it with a solvent and then to read only the exposure on the slow emulsion to obtain the exact exposure reading.
Removal of the fast emulsion does not damage the slow emulsion, thus ensuring a safe reading of the blackening. Upon request from the Qualified Expert, TECNORAD may forward the developed film as document attesting the radiation on the dosimeter .

Case
A case with nine total symmetry infiltration zones in order to allow manipulation of the film without any possibility of varying the information gathered.
Kodak films with periodically rotated colour recognition labels are delivered monthly to the Customer.
The Badge has been devised by TECNORAD to be easily clipped onto work clothes and to have minimum size and be as less encumbering as possible, allowance made for the weight of the several metal filters.
Filters
The filters fitted on the badge are in different materials and thicknesses and are placed symmetrically recto-verso, so as to allow for the drawing of incident radiation energy and to guarantee a correct reading in any position the Kodak film may be inserted.

TLD Dosimeter |
TLD Detector in Lithium Fluoride LiF: Mg, Cu, P (GR 200 A) or MCP-N
Characteristics of the thermoluminescent detector
- Atomic number close to human body number : about 6
- This allows for a more accurate measurement of the absorbed dose.
- Wide range of dose consistency from 1 mGy to 10 Gy
- The LiF: Mg, Cu, P therefore guarantees a very high sensitivity and an extremely low detection threshold
- Measurement reproducible by 2%
- Fading almost inexistent
- Constant sensitivity for a very high number of cycles.
- Reply consistency upon energy variation within + 20% between 20 keV and 3 MeV
The dosimeter contains two or more thermoluminescent detectors adequately recto-verso filtered, so as to allow drawing of the incident radiation energy.
The TLD Badge is fitted with a clear and permanently marked recognition label bearing the user’s name and surname as well as references on department and expiry date.
The case, label and thermoluminescent detector are all appropriately sealed by means of a special vacuum waterproof thermoformed plastic material for liquid sterilisation.
The thermoluminescent detector does not allow visualisation of the radiation image; therefore TECNORAD has devised a document-based system that ensures traceability of all the phases making up the calculation of the dose.
